Martial Art: Pekiti-Tirsia Kali [PTK-SMF] combat system

Ferd Terado is a Certified Professional Instructor [Guro] and has been training in the Pekiti-Tirsia Kali [PTK-SMF] combat system for about 10 years.

Ferd Terado began his martial arts education at 17 years old in Okinawan Goju-ryu karate. He briefly trained in other martial art systems such as Hung Gar Gung-Fu, Muay Thai and Capoeira. Guro Ferd is a traditionalist and has an “old school” martial discipline with modern sensibilities.

Aside from teaching regular local classes, Guro Ferd conducts seminars, workshops, and have been a guest instructor in several martial arts events. His first international seminar was successfully held in Ukraine and he looks forward to similar opportunities to travel to other countries to teach and promote his combat system.

The Pekiti-Tirsia Kali [Kidlat] training club is located in San Diego, California USA. “Kidlat” in the Filipino language means “thunderbolt,” which is a reflection of how the tactics and techniques of the art are trained and ultimately executed. The primary focus is edged weapons proficiency. However, Guro Ferd also teaches exotic weapons such a karambit, tomahawk, flexible weapons and of course, staff/spear. He is also proficient with modern firearms.

Guro Ferd regularly teaches group classes, as well as private instructions in the traditional blade-fighting discipline and personal defense. On occasion, he also teaches weapons combatives to law enforcement and military.
